Girls Weekend vs. Boys Weekend

I have definitely enjoyed my mom's visits to Dallas since she retired. I thought it would be fun to have mom and grandmom come to Dallas for a girls weekend while the boys went hunting. We had a great time visitng and getting out in Dallas. We lunched at Village Burger Bar, went to see The Town, which was pretty decent, watched the game, shopped and shopped and brunched at Breadwinners.

Meanwhile....

Austin went hunting and fishing with my dad, brother-in-law and dad's buddies.
Dad and Austin getting ready for dinner

They fished for bass with their new fly rods; fried and ate the fish they caught.

They shot their firearms, went dove hunting and made several attempts to shoot hogs but the hogs were MIA.

Miss Belle missed Austin, but she was a good dog while he was away.

Overall, we all had a great weekend! Boys will be boys!

Full On Double Rainbow

Austin saw a double rainbow on opening day, which provided many laughs for his hunting buddies. If you haven't seen this Youtube, it's pretty hilarious.

Holly V Check Up

We drove out to Wylie this past weekend to put some new tires on Holly V. She is ready to go for opening weekend! The boys will take her out to the lease in a few weeks. One day (maybe very soon), Julie C. and I plan on giving Holly a little makeover and put in new curtains and upholstery.

Making sure the tires are in good condition and placed correctly

Luckily, on our way out to Wylie we hit two birds with one stone and picked up a vintage 1960's dresser I found on Craigs List that I cannot wait to refinish! It will look fabulous in one of our guest rooms.

Our Newest Addition

We wanted to share with you the latest additions to our family these past couple of weeks. These two dove hatched a few weeks ago in our garage. Austin has named them Lunch and Dinner and boy do they grow up fast! I read online that the daddy dove raises the babies while the mother starts a new clutch. The daddy pushes the babies out of the nest to teach them "the ways of the world". I did check the ground below to make sure they didnt fall!

We'll see you opening weekend!

2009 Wrap Up, Better Late Than Never

The end of 2009 was a whirlwind. If you know us well, you know that we are always working on a house remodel project. Austin has become quite the handy man since he has been a homeowner. He has survived several home makeover projects (before and after pics to come)and owns all the tools to prove it. I am so proud of him for installing our vent hood all by himself. Way to Go!

Fall Football

We went to several football games in the fall had a great time! Austin and I both grew up in Austin and are huge UT fans. The blood runs orange over here. But after highschool, life led us both to other colleges...Austin went to Baylor and I went to Texas Tech. We both love our schools dearly, but most of the time blood is thicker than water when it comes to football...and Austin actually needs a football team to root for!

UT/TECH GAME

In 2008 We went to Vegas for the game and of course I bet on Tech and we all know the outcome of that game. (I had to throw this in the blog somewhere) But 2009 was a different story and UT pulled through with the W.

Getting ready to head to the tailgate

TX/OU Game/State Fair

We met up with some friends early in the morning and headed to The Taco Joint, which some say are the best breakfast tacos in town. I am still making up my mind on this one but they were pretty good! We met up with Jeff and Tricia for the game and had a great time drinking margaritas and eating Fletcher's corn dogs and just catching up!

And we ran into ShelBel and Leslie. It was a great time!

Mr. and Mrs. Jim Pfertner

We drove down to Austin for Melissa and Jim's wedding at the Barton Creek Resort. It was beautiful! Barton Creek holds a special place in our hearts because Austin proposed to me there in 2006 and we had not been back since. It brought back so many sweet memories.

Junior League

Austin and I went to the Junior League Auction and Casino Party. A fantastic time was had by all. We invited Myndi and Chris over for a cocktail at our house and headed to Wolf Gang Puck's restaurant, 560, in Reunion Tower and had some more cocktails. If you have never been to Reunion Tower, it is a real trip because the floor rotates and completely messes with your mind. We walked across the street to Union Station where the event was held and the venue was amazing. The party had an 80's theme so there was a tattoo parlor, 80's video games, rock candy and candy cigarettes...it was a blast from the past. The food was fabulous, catered by Wolf Gang Puck. Fresh sushi and seafood, decadent mac and cheese...they went all out.

To sum up some of the Christmas festivities this year...We had Austin's company Christmas party at the House of Blues with the Spazmatics, which is always a blast!

Melissa, Austin and Kurt with the "big" beer.

Jerrywold....

Austin and I made a few trips out to the new stadium in Arlington. Austin scored suite tickets with his company and was able to see the stadium "court side" for the opening Cowboys Game vs. The Giants and boy are those guys big....

UNC VS. UT Bball Game - We met Austin's co-workers Kurt, his wife Susan and their son and a couple other groups of friends at some hole-in-the-wall bar close to the stadium that offered free shuttle service to the stadium. We had some great food and cold beverages.

Tip Off

What Christmas break would be complete without seeing a movie? We went with my parents, sister and her fiance, Greg to see AVATAR in 3D. Loved it! I think my dad truly enjoyed it once the movie started...he kept lifting his 3D glasses up and down to see what the difference was and after he figured it out I think he dozed off to sleep. I know I caught him sleeping a couple of times....It was a long movie!

This is probably enough to wrap of the end of Oh Nine.

Cousin Eddie's in Town

Wow...look what rolled up outside our house this weekend?!?

Austin and one of his good friends, Roman, are the proud owners of a 1972 Holly Vacationer. Yes folks...it is parked outside our house until the gas line is fixed. The boys nicknamed her Holly V. Holly will be a great asset at the deer lease this fall and fun for a little camping this summer. We cant wait to get her out to the lease...

Oh Holly....
